I’m inviting you to do something I remember doing a few years ago…
Release, release, release…
** Why things haven’t happened for you yet
** Reasons why they should have given you a chance
** Procrastination to avoid the work you know you need to do
** I should have, I could have, I would have….but I didn’t
** Not creating time to face the things that keep you stuck
** Looking for someone else to give you the solution
** Standing still because you don’t know how
You have full permission to release all of this noise today.
You see, I remember having this very conversation with myself not that long ago.
It was when all my dreams of sitting at the decision-making table still felt like they were far off in the distance. I was stuck in a loop wondering why, how, & when it would be my turn to step into my light, my turn to shine, my turn to bring the future version of myself to life.
The truth is, those dreams felt far away because that’s where I decided to put them. It was really that simple.
If I’m being completely, humbly honest with you, I didn’t require it of myself.
I didn’t fully commit to my vision for my life & my work.
I didn’t choose to do what it would take to pursue my passion to make the world of work better for everyone…especially when I didn’t feel like it.
I let my feelings in the moment dictate what I said yes to…and what I said no to.
But here’s the truth that I had to learn.
Being a leader is an inner game.
My lack of legit commitment to not let my fear of never living up to my full potential got the best of me and kept me frozen.
Well, I had to learn that knowing that I have exactly what it takes to use my talents & gifts in a meaningful way wasn’t going to happen by magic.
It required work.
But the part of me that was scared to step on toes, to be too much, to shine too brightly, to fail…
Ya, her? Well, she held onto a snap-my-fingers-and-oh-I’m-a-leader magic pill solution that she wished was real.
That’s some Houdini-level *ish that I would have paid money for in a heartbeat if it could teleport me directly into my next level. Black AMEX in hand.
But seriously, being a leader happens by choice.
Your choice.
Not mine. Not your boss’s. Not your hubby’s. Not your sister’s. Yours and yours alone.
And fast forward to now, it’s a choice I have to make…Every. Single. Day.
Stepping into your leadership strength is a daily commitment, and re-commitment, and re-re-commitment to the bigger vision you have for yourself.
It’s this deep level of religious-type of commitment that lights a fire under my ass. I have to depend on THIS commitment when everything in me wants to do anything except what I need to do.
I have a big vision of helping more good-hearted, high-achieving women get into higher & higher levels of leadership.
I have to require more of myself because more is required of me.
The hard truth is if you’re looking for that commitment from anyone but yourself, you’ll end up sadly disappointed.
If you’re deep in procrastination, avoidance, or all talk mode then check yourself. How committed are you to being the leader, influencer, impact-maker that you say you want to be? Is the fear bigger than the vision?
Are you committed to it, not just in words, but in action?
Because when you make that mental commitment and shift into action mode, that’s when the sparks really start to fly. It’s when you quit settling for the excuses.
Commit to your vision.
Have your own back.
First & always.
If this isn’t your thing, then back to same-same hibernation you go. The rest of us have got some real work to do and some skies to kiss. I can feel the wind under our wings already.
Choose to join in. It’s pretty dope over here.
You got this. I believe in you.
